It depends on where you are in America. In some states, such as New York and California, high rise apartments are very common. In other states, such as Colorado and Wyoming, high rise apartments are not that common. The reason for this is because the cities by the coasts were the first places to be settled a long time ago, and more and more people came from other countries to settle in these cities. The states and cities that are further in from the coasts were not as crowded because less people settled further in, so these states have more land and people build houses instead of apartments. In the more crowded coastal cities, apartments made more sense as they could accommodate more people.
