I have mixed reactions when it comes to adding special side ingredients to enhance the flavor of food. On the one hand, it can really help the dish because the extra side ingredients can enhance the taste of the dish. I think sambal chili and lime juice, which are very popular side ingredients in Southeast Asia, can really enhance the flavor of dishes. On the other hand, I think using side ingredients after the dish is cooked is not a good idea, because doing so hides the natural flavor and taste of the food. Also, if something is wrong with the food, we might not be able to tell easily because of heavy side ingredients such as chili and sambal.
