Buses in Singapore are numerous and frequent. Buses can go places that the MRT can’t get to, and virtually every part of Singapore can be accessed by bus. They are also cheaper than the MRT. However, journeys by bus can take longer than the MRT and may not be as comfortable. Detailed maps with destinations can be found at every bus stop. Passengers can also access apps, such as the CityMapper, to know when the next bus is coming.

싱가폴의 버스는 아주 많고 자주 다닌다. 버스는 MRT가 갈 수 없는 곳까지 갈 수 있고, 사실상 버스로 싱가포르 전역을 갈 수 있다. 또한 MRT보다 더 싸다. 단, 버스를 이용한 여행은 MRT보다 더 오래 걸릴 수 있으며 MRT처럼 편안하지 않을 수 있다.
목적지가 있는 상세 맵은 모든 버스 정류장에서 확인할 수 있다. 또한 승객들은 CityMapper와 같은 앱에 접속하여 다음 버스가 언제 오는지도 알 수 있다.

Q. Do you think it is better to travel to work by public transportation or do you think it is better to drive?

A. I know for a fact that it would be better to take public transportation than to drive. Traveling by bus or the MRT takes less fuel than everyone driving their own cars. It also reduces vehicle exhaust which is bad for the ozone layer. However, I have to say that it is easier said than done to take public transportation than to drive my own car. I tried once but it was very uncomfortable for me. The amount of people crammed into the bus every morning is not a pleasant thing to deal with. As a compromise, I drive three times a week now and endure other people crammed into my personal space two times a week. Maybe I can make it to five days a week one day.
