The Swiss is famous for being as punctual and precise as their world-famous watches. They take punctuality very seriously and usually expect the same of others. The time agreed upon for business or social meetings is important. Swiss people do not appreciate tardiness. Arriving earlier for appointments is highly recommended and last minute arrivals are not recommended.

Q. How do you feel about tardiness?

A. I think that punctuality is very important in any situation, including social and business meetings. This is especially important if it is the first time that I am meeting someone. I always try to arrive 10 minutes early. There have been times when people have been late for appointments with me. In the beginning, I would always wait for them. But after a while, I realized that I don’t have to do this. Nowadays, if someone is not there 15 minutes after the time we are supposed to meet, I will leave and not wait for them anymore.
