Durian is a beloved fruit in Malaysia and many Southeast Asian countries. The durian fruit has soft and milky flesh and a very strong and distinct scent. Foreigners who are not familiar with the durian often think that it smells bad. For Malaysians, however, the durian is a delicious fruit that they are willing to pay for. Visitors who are not familiar with the fruit can try durians covered in chocolate, which are not as strong as the real fruit.

두리안은 말레이시아와 많은 동남아시아 국가에서 생산되는 과일이다. 두리안은 부드럽고 우유 과육맛이 나며 향이 아주 강하고 뚜렷하다. 두리안에 익숙하지 않은 외국인들은 종종 냄새가 나쁘다고 생각한다.
그러나 말레이시아인들에게 두리안은 기꺼이 값을 치르게 만드는 맛있는 과일이다. 이 과일에 익숙하지 않은 방문객들은 진짜 과일만큼 강하지 않은 초콜릿으로 덮인 두리안을 먹어볼 수 있다.

A. After a vacation in Philippines several years ago, I brought durian candy back for my colleagues in the department. It was a soft candy that melts in your mouth, and the flavor of durian was not very strong. I bought it for that reason. However, once they smelled it, none of them wanted to try the candy. They thought the smell was weird. Eventually one of them tried the candy by covering his nose! He liked the candy but disliked the aftertaste that it left in his mouth, even though it was so mild.
