Visitors traveling in Taiwan may notice that shop staff seem particularly keen for them to take their receipts. The reason for this is the lottery number which is printed at the top of every receipt. Each time a customer makes a purchase in Taiwan, he or she is getting a lottery number for free. The lucky draw is held bi-monthly, and the prize ranges from USD6 (three matching digits) to USD300,000 (exact match).

A. If I won the lottery, I would first share the joy and excitement with my family. The first thing that I would get is an apartment, an asset for myself. Next I would go shopping and buy some expensive things that I couldn’t afford before. I need a good computer, so I might buy a custom-made computer. Next I would ask my family family what they need, and I will buy it for them. It will not be a time for tightening my belt if I won the lottery.
