Q.
Do you like to make new friends when you are at the beach or do you like to keep to yourself?
A.
It depends on where I am. If I am at a European or an American beach, I would be open to making new friends. But if I am at a beach in an Asian country, I would not be. The reason for this is the different cultures. In European and American cultures, people are quite open and they would make small talk to strangers. In Asian cultures, this is seen as strange. Even if I am at a European or an American beach, I would speak to a stranger only if they spoke to me first. I would not speak to a stranger first. My experiences from speaking to strangers at the beach have been very positive. Most people at beaches are very relaxed and if they seemed like okay people, I would join them for a few beers or volleyball games. If they don’t seem like okay people, I would politely make excuse and go somewhere else.
