Ramadan is an important holiday for the Muslims. Muslims fastthroughout the day for one month during Ramadan. This fasting begins at sunrise and ends with the sunset. It is meant to bring Muslims closer to their God, to help them to better understand the suffering of others, and to appreciate what they have. In Singapore, the average fasting time is about 13.5 hours a day. Most employers will work with Muslim employees to help them adjust during the fasting month.

Would you be able to fast every day for a month like the Muslims do?
A.Definitely not! I think that not being able to eat for one day wouldn’t be a big deal for me. I think that the reasons behind fasting during Ramadan are very beautiful. It would be a very cleansing and humbling experience. I wish I could fast for another reasons, but I am sure I would be “pooped out” before the afternoon if I try!
