Q.
Describe the most difficult walking or hiking that you have done.
A.
I went to Japan last year to visit my grandparents. While I was there, I often accompanied my grandmother when she went on her daily walks. Often they lasted about 30 minutes and we just walked slowly around the neighborhood. But one day, my grandmother decided to take me on a path along a small mountain. From our usual walk, we went onto the mountain and it took us two and a half hours to complete the walk! It was actually more like a hike! My grandmother is approaching 90 but she had no problems with the hike. I was the one who was huffing and puffing along the trail. I had to ask her to stop and wait for me a few times. I was amazed that she was so strong and fit at her age! She told me later that she normally walks that mountain path every day, but because she didn’t want to tire me out, she only took me through the neighbourhood. I was so exhausted that night that I hit the sack as soon as I showered!
