A traditional Korean sport similar to Schwingen in Switzerland is Korean wrestling(Ssirum). This sport uses whole body in a battle. Two players grab each other's belts and try to knock their opponents down on the sand. To win a wrestling match, players need stamina, skill, and mental strength. One of my favorite famous wrestlers is Kang Ho-dong who became known as one of the top Korean traditional wrestlers. At the 44th national ssireum championships, Kang Ho-dong defeated the legendary player and went on to win the tournament. Known as the “Devil on the sand” for his fearless look, he was recognized as the youngest Cheonhajangsa(final tournament) title holder. After he retired from wrestling, he became a famous comedian.
