Q.
Is it considered rude to touch the top of someone’s head in your culture?
A.
In South Korea, patting children on the head is an expression of praise or affection. It is not considered rude or offensive to do so. However, it is considered rude to cross your legs in the presence of other people in South Korea. It is much more acceptable to sit with your legs uncrossed. Crossing your legs is seen as lazy or disrespectful in the South Korean culture. The best way is to sit up straight and keep your hands on your lap.
