Day 26 - Are you staying healthy?

  • Why is health important to us? Do you remember the feeling you had when your body was unable to function because of tiny bacteria that had invaded your body and caused you to get the flu with a high fever, sore throat, and runny nose? When it’s flu season, many people get sick naturally. Illness from bacteria has become so common these days that we don’t seem to pay attention to our health on our own anymore, and we depend on new pills and medicine. However, do you know that the newer pills or medicine we take, the stronger the new bacteria will become? Staying healthy is not a difficult thing. If you change one or two things in your daily habits, you will become healthier than ever.

First, wash your hands all the time. Some people might say washing hands often is bothersome, but our hands have a high chance of getting harmful germs every day. Think about what you usually touch during the day. You will be shocked to find out how dirty your hands can be. I see many children scratching their eyes or eating some food with their hands after they play on the playground. Most of them get sick a few days later.

Second, we need to eat well in order to stay healthy. What I mean by eating well is not that we should just eat fruits and vegetables because they are healthy foods. We should eat enough of everything like protein, calcium, vitamins, and iron. Do not skip meals and don’t be a picky eater. Also, be more careful when you eat certain foods in summer. You have a higher chance of getting food poisoning in summer because of the hot temperature.

Third, exercise regularly. You don’t have to go to a gym to stay healthy. You can start by walking more and stretching during the day. With just a few changes in your daily life, you won’t have to worry about getting sick and going to the hospital.
