Positive Tickets

Children and young people in Canada sometimes receive tickets from police officers for good behavior. This ticket is known as a positive ticket. The belief is that young people are more likely to respond to reward than criticism. Local police will hand out positive tickets for things such as picking up garbage, wearing a bike helmet, or crossing the street in a safe manner. Rewards are donated by local businesses and can include free hamburgers, cinema tickets or a chance to see the local hockey game.
