Day 14 – Learning

Lifelong learners are eager to learn because they want to. My friend Julia is that kind of person. She is very busy with both her full-time school schedule and after school studies at the same time. She doesn’t have a lot of free time, but she is trying to learn German because she wants to go to Germany next year to take a photography course. It is her first time studying abroad and she is really excited about it. She takes online lessons before going to school. In the beginning she sounded quite awful but now she sounds pretty good speaking German. I think Julia is very hard-working and she will be a professional photographer one day.

Watching my friend do her best in order to achieve her dreams, is inspiring me to go towards my goals in life as well. Everyone is capable of doing anything their mind is set to. It is easy to say that something is too hard or impossible to do. But we should remember the people who came before us, and all of the achievements they made. Just 70 years ago, there were no computers or touch screens. The people back then thought that was impossible and something out of science fiction. Or father back, the people of thousands of years ago, did not know about gravity till an apple fell on a mans head.

Most people think learning ends when school ends. But really, people learn more and more every day. The only thing that changes is that once we finish school, we can learn the things that we truly find interesting. The more we learn, the more we can change and take control of. As the old saying goes, knowledge is power. What is a subject you are more interested in learning that isn’t taught at school?
