Day 2 – Books

I didn’t like reading. I thought it was too boring. I preferred to play computer games and message my friends on my cellphone all day long. My mom was very worried about me. She tried to get me to read some interesting books, but I was not interested. I just didn’t want to give it a try.
As I got older, I was introduced to new books and stories. It wasn’t that I didn’t like reading, I just hadn’t found the right genre that I was interested in. I am a fan of historical fantasy books. My friends are always surprised when I tell them what books I like. Since I am on the baseball team and enjoy sports a lot, they didn’t think I would like that. But you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Sometimes I stay up all night reading a book because it is so exciting, I just can’t put it down.

Stories where there is great strife in a kingdom and the hero must gather his hoard of men and fight the evil villain. Or, where there is an underdog who was born into poverty and works hard to prove himself and finally earns the respect of the people.

I like to read this genre because it transports me to other worlds and far off lands. Our daily lives can be mundane and uneventful. Each day is the same and almost no dangers are around due to modern innovation. Books can take us on adventures only the imagination can create. The only limit is our imagination.
