China is one of the largest countries with one of the largest number of people in the world. China was the first country to have one billion people! A long time ago, the government encouraged the people of China to have lots of children. They believed that the children will grow up to help China produce lots of food and make lots of money. After a while, China started to have too many children. The government tried to control the number of children by allowing only one child for every couple. However, China continues to have a lot of people.
