Do Not Write in Red Ink

In China, it is a taboo to write the names of people in red ink. This is considered to be very bad luck. A long time ago in China, people wrote or painted the names of the dead in red. The Chinese also believe that the King of Hell, who is responsible for bringing the dead to hell, uses red ink to mark people who are dying. In the Chinese culture, anything to do with the dead is considered to be very bad luck. Many people in China today still get scared if they see their names written in red ink. It means that they would die soon, or someone wishes them bad luck. Only teachers in China are allowed to use red ink to make corrections.
