Day 2 - Do’s and Don’ts

Level 5

Do Not Remove Your Shoes Unless You Are Asked

  • 맛집영어 영어수강 영어교재 이미지
  • In some countries, especially in Asia, removing one’s shoes before entering the house is a must. In America, however, this is the opposite. Many Americans wear shoes in their homes, and they would not expect guests to remove their shoes before entering their homes. In some cases, it is even viewed as rude if guests remove their shoes and walked around in their socks. The only exception to this is if guests visit the home of an Asian American. Although born and raised in America, many Asian Americans also remove their shoes before entering their homes, like their counterparts in Asia, and would expect the same of their guests. It is best to ask if uncertain when you visit an Asian American’s home.
