Q.
What is your country’s national animal?
A.
The Siberian tiger is the national animal of South Korea, and it is an important symbol of our culture. One of the official mascots of the Winter Olympics in Seoul is a white tiger. I was scared of the Siberian tiger when I was a child, but since then I have caught on to the love and respect that my country has for this animal. Unfortunately, there are no longer any tigers left in the wild in South Korea. The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur tiger, used to roam in forests throughout South Korea, northern China, and eastern Russia. Now, it is only found in a few remote places.
