The Thai people believe that the head is the cleanest part of the body and the most sacred. Touching someone’s head or hair in Thailand is considered offensive. This includes playfully ruffling a child’s hair. Apologize immediately if you accidentally touch someone’s head and most Thai people will quickly forgive.

A. In South Korea, people don’t write someone’s name in red ink. It is considered very offensive and unlucky. In addition, young people don’t sit on seats that belong to their elderly. A lot of South Koreans still have a very Confucian mindset and they have a high respect for the elderly. In subways, you will hardly ever see a younger person sitting on the seats reserved for the elderly, even when the train is crammed.
