Merlion

The Merlion is Singapore’s national icon. It is a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. It symbolizes Singapore's humble beginnings as a fishing village and Singapore’s original name (Singapura) which means “lion city.” The Merlion statue stands at 8.6m, spouts water, and weighs 70 tonnes.
