History

The word “China” means “middle kingdom” in Mandarin. China got this name because it is located at the center of the Middle East. China is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. The history of China is separated into dynasties. Each dynasty was named for the emperor who was ruling China at the time. The Qin dynasty is the very first dynasty in Chinese history. The last emperor of China was dethroned in 1912. China has been ruled by the government after the last emperor. Ancient China was more advanced than any other country in the areas of science, technology, astronomy, and mathematics. China has also created some of the greatest inventions which we still use today, including paper, the compass, printing, and silk.
