Schultute for Children

Starting school is very special for every child in Germany. Children in Germany get a Schultute, or school cones, from their families or teachers on the very first day that they start school. The Schultute is in the shape of a cone and it is decorated beautifully. A cone shape is chosen because this way the children cannot see what is inside the Schultute. The Schultute is filled with candies, toys, fruits, and stationeries. Schultutes are given because the adults want the very first day of school to be sweet for the children. Schultutes are opened at the end of the day as a reward for completing the first day of school.
