Q & A
Vocabulary
Q. Are there any English slang words in your culture?
A. During the time when I worked in Singapore, I often heard a very common slang word that Singaporeans like to use. It is, “Can or not?” It is supposed to mean if something is okay or doable. In proper English it would be, “Is that alright?” or “Can we do that?” Instead, in Singlish, as they call it in Singapore, they just added “or not” to the word “can.” It is very useful in many situations.
