One of the most unique souvenirs that you can buy from Spain is an unusual looking bottle. This traditional container is called a bota. It is commonly used in Spain to carry wine rather than water. The bota is typically made out of leather. They are traditionally lined with materials such as goat bladders or types of resins. However, it is commonly lined with plastic liners now. These linings prevent the liquid from leaking out of the bottle. It is a great souvenir to buy because it is a unique gift that can only be found in Spain.

Q. Who would you buy the bota bag for as a souvenir and why?

A. I think I would get it for myself. I would not use it for water but as a decoration. The Chinese also have a traditional water and wine container. Instead of leather, it is actually made out of the fruit of a plant. The fruit is shaped like a round number eight, with a smaller round shape on top and a bigger round shape below. It is very hallow on the inside and was traditionally used to contain wine in China. I have one of these Chinese containers in my house as decoration and they have always been a great talking point whenever I have friends or family over. I think the Spanish bota bag will make another great decoration and talking point for parties and get-togethers. It will be educational too, about the Spanish culture.
